Instructional Videos

Below, you’ll find examples of video instruction I’ve created as part of my instructional design and instructor development work. Each video demonstrates a different approach to teaching — from skill demonstrations to conceptual lessons — and showcases how I apply learning design principles in multimedia format.

Details about each project, including its purpose, tools used, and design process, are provided with each example.

Sample Lesson Video
Paddle-N-More - 2025

This lesson is a sample piece developed to demonstrate my approach to learning design and instructional content development. It’s based on a lesson I typically teach during ACA Instructor Development Workshops — both in-person and via Zoom — where I guide instructor candidates through the IDEAS Model (Introduce, Demonstrate, Explain, Activity & Assess, and Summarize).

The goal of this project was to transform a live, discussion-based lesson into a polished, self-paced video learning experience that models sound instructional design and engagement strategies.

Design Approach

I designed this sample lesson to show how core instructor development content can be adapted effectively for online delivery while maintaining clarity, pacing, and learner engagement.

Key design elements include:

  • Structuring the lesson around the five stages of the IDEAS model, aligning content and visuals with each stage.

  • Using Canva to create visually engaging slides with consistent branding, icons, and animation flow.

  • Applying animated examples, visual cues, and realistic scenarios to illustrate key teaching points.

  • Keeping narration concise to maintain focus and avoid cognitive overload.

Future Enhancements & Accessibility

With more time, I plan to enhance this lesson to increase accessibility and learner engagement. Future updates will include:

  • Closed captions and a downloadable transcript to improve access for all learners.

  • A downloadable job aid summarizing the IDEAS model and key teaching cues.

  • Additional online tools I may incorporate include short scenario-based examples and reflection prompts to create a more complete online learning experience.

Sample Explainer Video w/ Screen Recording
Paddle-N-More - 2025

While this training video is elementary in design, it was created intentionally with the audience in mind — teenagers, many of whom are experiencing their first job. My focus was on timing, clarity, and learner engagement to ensure the content was simple, direct, and approachable.

Design Approach

This project was designed using a learner-centered approach, prioritizing accessibility and simplicity for new employees. I began by writing a step-by-step script that explained the reservation process in clear, concise language. Using that script, I generated an AI-driven voiceover and recorded the screen in real-time, syncing mouse movements to the narration.
This ensured smooth pacing and created a visual rhythm that was easy for beginners to follow.

To keep learners engaged and reinforce critical points, I added visual markers — such as exclamation icons and callouts — to highlight essential policies like waiver collection and knowledge check prompts. These small design choices guided attention without overwhelming the viewer, ensuring the training remained practical, visually clean, and effective.
