Sample Curriculm Design
This section highlights sample curriculum work that includes a slide deck covering a specific lesson within a larger module, along with the related assignment designed for students to apply the concepts. Because this course is in higher education, I developed the lecture materials in PowerPoint and the assignment in Microsoft Word. This serves as a representative sample of my instructional design and teaching approach.

Sample Assignment
For my Commercial Recreation course, I designed a slide deck that guides students through the Stages of the Buying Process as part of our Marketing and Promotion module.
The goal of this lesson is to help students connect consumer decision-making with strategic promotional tools.

To structure the content, I used a cyclical model illustrate how customers move through the stages of the buying process (see Sample Slides). This format helps students visualize the process as continuous rather than linear, reinforcing the idea that effective marketing strategies help build long-term relationships. Students previously learned about the promotional mix, so this lesson focused on applying and thinking critically.

During class, for each stage of the buying process, I had students:

-
Identify where the customer is in their decision-making journey.
-
Determine the most effective promotional materials to match the stages.
-
Discuss how messaging shifts between awareness, persuasion, and reminders.
To deepen engagement, students were required to complete an assignment (see Sample Assignment):

-
Develop one piece of promotional material (awareness, persuasive, or reminder-based).
-
Create a Gantt chart to organize their marketing and promotion strategy over time.
-
Apply this framework to build a comprehensive strategy for their final course project.
This activity emphasizes not just theory and concepts related to the topic, but practical strategy design. By aligning promotional content to the stages of the buying process, students practice creating targeted, purposeful promotional materials that reflect real-world marketing challenges.
